More than 400 people enjoyed an afternoon of theater, music, dance, and comedy featuring participants from the Kambalache Leisure Center
On May 21, the Corazonistas School theater was filled with excitement, applause, and talent during a new edition of Insólito Fest, the festival organized by Kairós' Kambalache Leisure Center to highlight the artistic talents of people with intellectual disabilities.
A total of 53 participants with intellectual disabilities y 37 professionals and volunteers made it possible to put on a show that brought together more than 400 attendees, who enjoyed an afternoon filled with theater, music, dance, humor, and lots of excitement.
The theme chosen this year, “Mom, I want to be an artist”, won over the audience from the very beginning. Through a variety of scenes and artistic disciplines, the festival invited attendees to reflect on creativity and talent from a diverse perspective, demonstrating that art can be expressed in many ways and that everyone has much to contribute when they find the right space to do so.
One of the most striking elements of the staging was the door that accompanied the protagonist, Leonardo, on his journey through a true artistic labyrinth. Through it, the audience discovered various art forms—such as literature, dance, music, film, and sculpture—in a story full of imagination, surprises, and heartwarming moments.
Music was another highlight of the afternoon. The selection of songs from different eras resonated with people of all ages, who didn’t hesitate to join in the show with applause, dancing, and singing from their seats. The audience’s participation turned the festival into a true shared celebration.
At the end of the performance, the participants expressed their excitement and satisfaction with the work they had done over the past few months. The effort and enthusiasm they had put into each rehearsal were evident on stage and were met with thunderous applause.
Insólito Fest once again achieved one of its main goals: to highlight the abilities, talent, and creativity of people with intellectual disabilities, promoting opportunities for genuine participation and raising social awareness.
Kairós would like to thank the public for their support, as well as the volunteers, families, professionals, and—most especially—the group of participants who, once again this year, have shown tremendous dedication and commitment to making this new edition of Insólito Fest possible.
