Kairós Cooperativa de Iniciativa Social is one of the 315 Spanish entities beneficiaries of the twentieth national call for Social Projects of Fundación Ibercaja, which this 2025 will reach more than 100,000 people. "Inclusive Classroom" is the initiative that Ibercaja Foundation will support through these grants: it is a project that reinforces the attention to diversity and promotes equal opportunities from childhood.
Incorporated by Kairós at the beginning of this year to its network of actions, the "Inclusive Classroom" project combines collaboration, support and psycho-pedagogical intervention in regular schools. Its starting point is the right to equal opportunities and the need to adjust the educational system to respond to the diversity of the classrooms, and it is managed from the Kairós disability area. In addition, it provides a specific, personalized and specialized intervention and promotes inclusion from an early age.
"Inclusive Classroom" aims to offer a quality educational response for all students, providing the necessary resources (both human and material) to the various educational stages, as well as at the beginning of working life. In this way, people with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder or specific learning needs are attended, promoting the development of abilities and attending to the person in all its dimensions.
This challenge is faced by a large team, made up of educational psychologists, psychologists and teachers specialized in attention to diversity, who base their actions on the three principles of inclusive education: presence, participation and progress. Interventions are carried out in the natural context of learning - ordinary classrooms - and extend to all spaces and moments of school life.
Through "Inclusive Classroom", Kairós continues its work to contribute to a fairer and more accessible society in which we all advance together towards a full development. To develop it, Kairós has relied on the team of professionals who were part of Fundación Lacus Aragón, to give continuity to the project designed for educational inclusion and attention to diversity in the classroom.
Collaboration of Fundación Ibercaja in educational inclusion
It is these values, purposes and teams that have earned Kairós the support of Fundación Ibercaja, which in this national call for social projects has selected 315 entities to support them. Of them, 128 are associations of the Aragonese third sector and 91 belong to Zaragoza and province.
On July 2, Fundación Ibercaja, through its general director, José Luis Rodrigo, presented the collaboration agreements to the Zaragozan entities in a ceremony in the Patio de la Infanta, which was attended by the neuroscientist Ana Ibáñez (who gave a talk entitled "Conscious self-care: neuroscientific keys to well-being in the social sphere") and the music of the violinist Zukhra.
With these grants, Fundación Ibercaja seeks to support projects aimed at labor insertion and social integration of groups in a situation or at risk of social exclusion, social dependency, guidance and training initiatives aimed at implementing innovative alternatives to address school failure in order to have a quality education, as well as those proposals aimed at covering the basic needs of people in situations of exclusion.
